How To Transport your auto

In this section you will find information on how to ship a vehicle. Auto transport leaders will assist you by sending your quote request to several auto transport companies. This will give them the opportunity to send you a quote and compete to ship your vehicle.

Auto transport is a fairly simple process. When you fill out our quote request form you will start receiving quotes via email and phone. This is a good time to ask any questions you may have about the process. Once you are comfortable with a company they will normally send you a shipping contract. Read this contract carefully and again ask any questions about the contract prior to signing.

Once you contract with a company they will begin to find you a carrier to transport your vehicle. This can be as early as the same day or may take a week depending on where your route is. Some really rural areas may take some time to find a trucker on that route.
Price and availablity on your route are the two main factors in determining how fast your vehicle is moved.

Once your vehicle has been assigned to a truck the broker should pass their contact information to you. This information should also include an approximate pickup date. The carrier should contact you in advance to schedule a pickup time.

Its important that you be flexible with your time if you need your vehicle transported quickly. Some carriers will schedule a few days out but others will call and want to pick up the vehicle without much notice. Its important you have your vehicle ready to ship when you say its ready. Some carriers may drive many miles to pick up your vehicle. If the vehicle is not ready this will cost the carrier a great deal of money in fuel and expenses.  You may also be charged a "Dry Run" fee to cover those expenses. Contact your transport broker or the carrier in advance if your vehicle is not ready for pickup.

When the carrier arrives to pickup your vehicle he or she should conduct a walk around inspection of the vehicle. The trucker will mark any deficencies on the condition report (Bill of Lading). They will have you sign it and give you a copy before they leave with your vehicle.  continue to page 2 >>>
